[Full show audio] – AKITA releases full show audio ahead of Culture Shift II

Local funk quintet AKITA is releasing full show audio today ahead of their anticipated Culture Shift II Friday night at the Rabbit Hole.  The 6/30/2018 show at the Vinyl Pi in Huntersville was captured by Records on the Wall and available below.

Taking cues from legendary funk bands such as James Brown, The Meters, Lettuce, Maceo Parker, Vulfpeck and others, AKITA infuses a new twist on funk by incorporating reggae and elements of funk-rock into their songs.

James McMahen, founder of Piedmont Artist Profiles, indicated that “Friday nights show at the Rabbit Hole will feature three of the areas most exciting and unique musical acts in the Charlotte area.”  Culture Shift II was spearheaded by AKITA founding member Patrick Buckley and will also include local funk ensemble GONZO and the loop-driven funk combo AARODYNAMICS.

Piedmont Artist Profiles recently sat down with a few of the musicians playing Friday night to get their thoughts on Culture Shift II.  You can access the article here.
