New Year’s Eve Live Music Guide

New Year’s Eve is just a few days away and so we’ve compiled a list of the best live shows in the area.  We hope everyone has a safe and happy NYE celebration to ring in 2019 and have a great show!

The Avett Brothers @ Bojangles Coliseum

$49-$350 | TICKETS

The Avett Brothers return to Charlotte for a two night run at Bojangles Coliseum to ring in the new year. The brothers are no stranger to the coliseum having played numerous shows over the years (their August 2009 show was recorded and released as Live, Volume 3). This past year has been historical for The Avett Brothers as they released their critically acclaimed documentary “May It Last: A Portrait of The Avett Brothers,” which was co-directed by Judd Apatow.  The film followed the band as they wrote their Grammy nominated album “True Sadness.”

Aarodynamics w/Crystal Fountains @ Lenny Boy Brewing

Free | 21+

Get ready to shake your ass to the live improvised and original booty music of local hip-hop/funk artist Aaron Malander.  Aarodynamics is fresh off the heels of his new single “I’ma be like Donald Trump (Fuck School)” and will be joined by drummer Patrick Buckley (AKITA).  The evening will also include a champagne bar, balloon drop, food trucks, and giveaways.

Of Good Nature’s Rock ‘N Roll Disco @ Visulite Theatre

$20/$25 | TICKETS

One of Charlotte’s favorite indie rock/reggae bands returns to the Visulite for a themed NYE bash. Billed as a Rock ‘N Roll Disco show, the NYE show will feature special performances, champagne, and an inflatable disco ball drop at midnight. Of Good Nature will be supported by Porch 40, Rare Creatures, and Charlotte’s own The Business People.

Andy The Doorbum @ The Milestone

$5/$10 | TICKETS

Hailing from the LA but having grown up in the Queen City, Andy the Doorbum has been making music since the age of 9. He is known for blending haunting music accompanied by powerful raw live vocals with lights and costumes to create a live show experience that embodies a realm that is strange and visceral. Andy will be joined by South Side Punx, The Emotron, Late Bloomer, and Bitter Hearts.

Jamorah @ Smokey Joe’s

$10 | TICKETS

Jamorah is made up of musicians that love to jam. Influenced by many genres, they all share the love for the psychedelic sounds of Jerry Garcia and the mastery of Frank Zappa which makes it for an interesting medley of sounds. Expect a packed house on NYE with the Avett Brothers ringing in the New Year around the corner at Bojangles Coliseum.

Charlotte Symphony @ Knight Theatre

$55-$154 | TICKETS

This will be the first time the Charlotte Symphony ring in the new year in Charlotte. Maestro Warren-Green leads a program featuring your favorite Strauss waltzes and some of Gershwin’s greatest songs. The evening includes a post-concert party, with desserts, champagne, and dancing on the Knight Theater stage to the smooth sounds of the Robyn Springer quartet.
