Charlotte funk ensemble Akita have announced a winter tour that will take them through the Carolinas with stops in Boone, Wilmington, Myrtle Beach, and Columbia along the way.
After a successful first year of 60+ shows in 2018 which included opening slots for rising jam acts Andy Frasco & the U.N., Funk You, LITZ, Chris Dave and the Drumhedz, and Roosevelt Collier, the band members are eager to spend more time on the road spreading their brand of funk in 2019.
“We’ve had a lot of good reception in Charlotte and getting out of town more is really just the next step in expanding our fanbase outside of our hometown.” – bassist Zak Ferrell
In addition to the winter tour, Akita is prepping their first EP set for release in late spring 2019. The album will include original compositions that the band has already tested in a live setting.
“We’re working really hard to put out this album and as far as I can remember, we’ve played every song we’ve written live”
Records On The Wall will have more details on the release date and subsequent tour as the album moves closer to completion. We can’t wait to hear what the finished product sounds like.
