Unknown Brewery’s 5.5ish Anniversery is set for this Saturday, March 2nd and has tapped Greenville, SC native Marcus King as the headliner.
High energy Brass-Funk-Rock band Empire Strikes Brass will also make an appearance Saturday. Hailing from Asheville, NC, ESB is rooted in the New Orleans Brass Band tradition of second-line parades and deep moving grooves reminiscent of old school funk.
Rounding out the lineup are local favorites Hipgnostic and Akita as well as The Up and Up band.
King is the ferocious 22-year old blues guitar player and bandleader of the Marcus King Band. Marcus has moved — quickly and definitively — from “intriguing young talent” to “compelling artist you can’t take your eyes off of.”
Guitar World Magazine recently sat down with Marcus for lengthy interview that touches on his most recent LP Carolina Confessions, his ascent and influences in the music industry over the past few years, and his guitar “Big Red” which he inherited from his grandfather.
