November Music Preview | 10 Charlotte Shows On Your Radar

Our November preview finds funk sextet LETTUCE in the feature slot for the month.

Additional shows include three bands from the Asheville area along with music spanning reggae, jamtronica, southern rock, bluegrass, and a whole lot of soul.

 

DownTown Abby & The Echoes @ The Evening Muse

Recently named the FloydFest 19 On-the-Rise Series winner, DownTown Abby & The Echoes has never been more focused on its mission to bring funky, dance-inducing original tunes to the Southeast’s most popular festivals and music venues.   The Asheville, NC-based band is consistently touring the Southeast to bring its fresh take on soul to a fast-growing fan base.

The band takes influence from the work of Bonnie Raitt, Sam and Dave, Tedeschi Trucks Band and Grace Potter & The Nocturnals among many other titans of soul, blues, and southern rock.

 

 

Allman Betts Band @ Neighborhood Theatre

The sons of Gregg Allman (Devon Allman) and Dickey Betts (Duane Betts) have joined forces to form The Allman Betts Band. They kicked off their World Tour on March 27, 2019 and sold out twelve of their first eighteen shows.

The show features new music, songs from their solo projects and classic Allman Brothers and Gregg Allman tunes in honor of the 50th Anniversary of The Allman Brothers Band.

 

 

The Fritz @ Free Range Brewing

The Fritz is a soul-driven dance rock band hailing from Asheville, NC.

The group’s aggressive approach to funk, soul, and rock creates a sound that is uniquely their own. Their high-energy, danceable songs provide a platform for each member to shine. With powerful vocals, climactic solos, and tight grooves, The Fritz has built a devoted following and is captivating audiences everywhere.

Originally formed in the rehearsal spaces of University of North Florida’s School of Music, The Fritz discovered an immediate chemistry. Drawing on influences such as Prince, Talking Heads and Jimi Hendrix, the quintet integrated their diverse musical tastes and began writing music together.

 

 

The Suffers @ Music at the Mill

The Suffers have got everything you need and there’s no need to look further – a heaping dose of soul, a dash of reggae, a splash of jazz, a pinch of salsa, a hint of rock ‘n’ roll and a dollop of hip hop and funk – and that is just a few ingredients simmering inside their magical Gulf Coast soul.

The Suffers have played sold out shows in Japan and Latin America, turned out audiences at the Newport Folk Festival and Afropunk Festival and made believers of just about anyone who has experienced their live shows.

The Jamie McLean Band (Southern roots rock, blues, and soul) will be your opener.

 

 

The Infamous Stringdusters @ Neighborhood Theatre

The Grammy award-winning force of nature that is The Infamous Stingdusters are set to play Neighborhood Theatre with support from Montana-bred bluegrass outfit Kitchen Dwellers.  In a genre known for traditionalism, the ‘Dusters have consistently covered new ground, inspired fans, and redefined what a bluegrass band can be.

They’ll weave an expressive patchwork of All-American bluegrass threaded together with strands of rock, jazz, funk, country, old-time, and more.

 

 

Mo Lowda & The Humble @ Visulite Theatre

Mo Lowda began with 3 high school kids. Those kids all ended up at the same college in Philadelphia, PA where other kids wanted them to play at their basement parties all the time. So, they did. ALL the time.

They are no longer kids. Two Full-length albums (2013, 2018) and an EP (2016) later, Mo Lowda & the Humble now average 100+ tour dates a year, nationally and internationally, including festivals like Firefly, Peach Fest, Mountain jam, and more.

 

 

Treehouse! @ The Visulite

For nearly eight years, the guys from TreeHouse! have spent the majority of their days as road warriors blazing sprawls of highway and at night playing an unapologetic enthusiastic blend of psychedelic reggae they are known for in venues across the nation.

TreeHouse! songs and lyrics  resonate in your soul and it’s this kind of message that makes the most recent studio album, Lifted, their strongest release to date.

 

 

LETTUCE  w/Ghost-Note @ Neighborhood Theatre

The grand stewards of the modern funk scene, LETTUCE will be back in Charlotte to play the Neighborhood Theatre with support from Ghost-Note.

LETTUCE will be playing in support of the bands sixth studio album Elevate.

Recorded at Colorado Sound outside of Denver, near the home of New York transplants and band co-founders, guitarist Adam “Shmeeans” Smirnoff and percussionist Adam Deitch, with legendary engineer Russ Elevado (D’Angelo, The Roots, Erykah Badu), Elevate shows LETTUCE touching on its past while moving full force into the future.

Falling somewhere between rock, jazz, and dynamic electronic mayhem we find Papadosio.

The Asheville, NC based quintet strives to create music that is strangely familiar and calls all walks of humanity to bask in a unique experience celebrating the one constant in an ever changing world: Music.

 

 

Josh Daniel & Friends: Tribute to Levon Helm @ The Visulite
FRI – 11/29 | TICKETS

Local musician Josh Daniel and friends are set to perform songs from Levon’s catalog at this annual celebration. Now in its eighth year, the Levon Helm tribute show is a fun night of singalongs and good times remembering an american icon of rock’n’roll.
